With all the controversy surrounding the word, and the upcoming album from Nas (the title has been removed), I was wondering how people felt about this record. I personally have mixed feelings about how and when the word is used. Stop, look, and listen - then let me know how you feel. Peace...

He is trying to teach you through the song but I am not to sure if people will realize that and be more upset with the use of the word without understanding where he is coming from. I have hope. I have issues with the term. In fact, I always visualized a lynching whenever I hear it so I know we all interpret the word differently from one another. I do not call my friends my *nigger* but I call them by their name or sis/bro or love. The N word will always be a war within our community (white, black, etc) Thanks for sharing!

You're right that most people will not hear what he is saying in this song, and the word will overshadow the message. Actually, it already has. I don't use the word either, can't say I never have though. Conversation concerning this word will be ongoing, no doubt. Its use from generation to generation has carried it on. It's one of those things where people feel if we take back the word as our own, it will no longer have the power it once had. I'm interested to see what happens once this album is released and the video airs.
